Dear members and participants of XBRL Europe,
On behalf of all the Organizers (Marc Hemmerling, Emile Bartolé, Javi Mora, Ignacio Boixo and Gilles Maguet), let me thank those who have attended in our events – 12th XBRL Europe day and 18th Eurofiling whorkshop in Luxembourg from the 9th to the 12th of December 2013, and obviously let me thank our colleagues from Luxembourg for the perfect organization and the nice welcome. It has been a real pleasure to welcome you and to see you all there.
As usual our presentation are available on our websites at the following address http://www.eurofiling.info/201312/index.shtml
We were more than 100 during each of the main 2 days from many European Countries but also we also had some invitees from other continents.
Amongst all the very interesting presentations, facts and works from the Working groups sessions, we can highlight the following
1. XBRL Sweden and the company AxiomSL have joined the XBRL Europe community as new members. Congratulations to them! I will make separate communications on it.
2. EBA and EIOPA and the Eurofiling community have worked a lot and are still working hard in order to have all the taxonomies and tools ready to cope with their calendars and especially in using the DPM model.
3. The European Commission, ESMA and the XBRL Europe community has started the work for the implementation of the Transparency Directive for the stock listed companies with the possible use of XBRL through the use of the IFRS taxonomy and through the use of other national elements to be reported. The European Commission has underlined the strong calendar which is ahead. XBRL Europe is ready to work with all the stakeholders with the preparation of its White Paper on the subject
4. The IASB has set up a new initiative the disclosure initiative lead by Kristy Robinson which has impacted the organisational structure and the work priorities of the IASB XBRL team in further integrating standard-setting and IFRS Taxonomy activities.
5. It exists in Europe a platform named Multi Stakeholder Platform managed by the European Commission in charge of a European Recognition program of Standards beneficial to the European Union. For this European Commission MSP scheme we have set up in XBRL Europe a MSP Task force in charge in Europe to coordinate the efforts between the EU countries as related to the local filing of MSP in order to have XBRL as a recognized standard by the European Commission. This XBRL Europe MSP Task Force is co chaired by Björn Rydberg from XBRL Sweden and Ignacio Boixo from XBRL Spain.
6. Our friend Yoshiaki Wada from XBRL Japan presented the recent developments in Asia and especially the XBRL in Asia concept which is on the verge of organizing itself and as much as possible in a similar way than XBRL Europe.
7. Our new CEO of XII recently appointed, has presented XII new goals for 2014, which are namely, enhance and energize our specifications work, recast our communications and brand and develop plans for future business model. Also a focus is currently made on redefining who really our XBRL stakeholders are ? And we have found that definitely the regulators are our main stakeholders.
8. The CEN Workshop chaired by Ignacio Boixo has finalised its works, and for it I will communicate in a separate email
9. The various XBRL Europe working groups have reported on their subjects and have prepared and presented consistent workplans for 2014.
10. The next 13th XBRL Europe day and 19th Eurofiling workshop will take place the week starting the 5th of May 2014. At this occasion a General Assembly of XBRL Europe with elections will take place. The location is not yet fixed but possibly Rome is an option. More details will be communicated in the next weeks.
Let me take this opportunity to transmit our traditional seasonal greetings to all of you and to your relatives and to your organizations.
Best regards to all
Gilles Maguet
