Brussels, Belgium – March 26, 2024 – The Executive Committee of XBRL Europe is delighted to announce the election of Thomas Verdin, 46 years old, as the new Chair. With a wealth of experience and expertise, Mr. Verdin has been an active contributor to the XBRL community for the last twenty years.
As Chair and together with the Executive Committee members, Mr. Verdin will spearhead efforts to promote transparency, standardization, and innovation in financial reporting across Europe. His vision aligns seamlessly with XBRL Europe’s mission to enhance data quality, facilitate digital transformation, and foster collaboration among stakeholders.
The Executive Committee also extends warm gratitude to Bruno Tesnière, who has skillfully led the organization since 2016. As part of the succession plan, Mr. Tesnière will continue as Vice Chair, ensuring a smooth transition for the new leadership team.
“I am deeply honored to take on this responsibility,” said Mr. Verdin. “XBRL plays a pivotal role in modernizing financial, non-financial, and regulatory reporting. I eagerly anticipate working closely with our members, regulators, and industry partners to drive positive change in Europe.”
Mr. Tesnière reflected on his tenure: “After eight years at the helm of XBRL Europe, it’s time to pass the torch to a younger generation. Since 2016, the digitalization of financial (ESEF) and regulatory reporting has made significant strides, thanks to the support of public and regulatory authorities. With CSDR and other regulatory initiatives on the horizon, I am pleased to continue supporting our vision while assisting Thomas and his team in overcoming future challenges.”
The Chair will have the opportunity to present the objectives of the organization at the next general assembly meeting in Malta on the 23rd of May 2024, where members will elect their representatives to the Executive Committee.
